We use them for holding paper patterns to wheel wells during test fit to copper strip for welding backer..

We install a csk 10-32 and lock nut to act as a handle, and they are ready to use...
I’ve scoured eBay for these and the nearest I can find are 50lb or 90lb strength. Exactly how much grip do these 65lb magnets give? I believe the rating is based on them being tested on material approximately 3/8” thick so do they pull off body panels easier? I don’t want to buy some that are rated to low but also don’t want to get them so that they are impossible to remove.

Thanks.

They are rather difficult to remove by themselves, add the 10-32 screw and they come off rather easily with leverage applied. They have also been used to hold panels together for mock up and tacking. We get them from the Applied Magnets web site.

Thanks for that. I noticed that there was an eBay seller listing some of Applied Magnetic products for sale but they were not the same ones as you have. The postage cost to the UK was crippling as well. I think I’ll try the 50lb versions for starters.
