Template material
I found this at Home Depot. It is called Ram Board. It is used to protect floors and walls during building construction.
It is a heavy weight paper card board stock. Cuts easy and has a smooth surface. The roll is 38" by 50 feet. The cost here is $29.97 per roll. They have a web site www.ramboard.com. image.jpg Mike Last edited by Steve Hamilton; 04-13-2015 at 04:47 PM. |

Exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks for posting.
What are some other papers utilized for template materials? Or, what is the 'go-to' type of paper? Material (composition), weight, et cetera? Yes, I'm new to this, and I really don't know Thanks

Another one you can use is "Red Rosin " paper in a roll. Looks redish. It is thinner I use it for shape patterns

Thanks, Mike! I know red rosin from using it building houses; maybe our HD will have some of the Ram Board on the damaged/discount rack next time I'm there.

If you're cheap (like me) get the sheets of paper that separate the layers of paper towels and toilet paper on the pallets at Costco. It is a little lighter weight but makes good patterns - and it's free

I've been using Ram Board for the past three years and it works great. Many of the other product (free and otherwise) are one quarter as thick as this stuff. It won't fold over or collapse as you line them up. I've been using them on my latest project. I think I did pay more in Portland, it might have been a larger roll.
