Default Pardon my rudeness

I owe a huge apology. Apparently my wife was right, and I can't follow instructions.

Been on the forum a while and have asked a few questions already so this is a belated introduction.

My name is Kevin Booth, but my friends call me Kev, hence the screen name. I'm welder as a profession, but a fabricator at heart. I work for a medical device manufacture and spend most of evenings (graveyard shift) TIG welding the parts and pieces to put people back together.

I have a meager assortment of tools, by some standards, but a abundance by others, for me still not enough. Currently I have very little sheet metal tools, save a stomp sheer and some hand tools, but my collection is on the rise, as I am building an English wheel, planishing hammer, and bead roller.

My interest lay mostly in working with Aluminum, I love how it works and most of my interests outside of metal revolve around some sort of outdoor activity and that usually means light weight.

Currently I have my sights set on building a few specialty boats that will require a fair amount of sheet metal work, along with some ornamental/sculptural stuff.

Thanks again for the great sight. Love checking out everyone's projects and metal working tools.

Later,
Kev

Hi Kev.

Thanks for your intro, friendly old bunch of guys here, not that I mean old just casual terminology, not meaning to be rude but your intro left me cold, didn't get a feel for what your at? Do me a favour, where you from, gives a clue of your age group also what you hope to achieve here.

To me this site is almost a family, we all get on with lots of give and take, and the skill centre is unbelievable, what some can produce from sheet just blows your mind.

Kev enjoy.

NO worries. I live in Northern Utah, about 30 minutes from the Idaho border. I'm 34 but I feel like I'm 60. Mostly hoping to gain some insight on tools and procedure. I'm all about making my own tools and such, so the tech on tool making is where I spend most of my browsing time. Also looking to get into shaping more and more so the procedure side of the actual shaping it peaking my interest as well.

Later,
Kev

You mentioned you were building an Ewheel have you got any pics? There's not much Kerry doesn't know about wheel building, could save you some heart aches, its worth posting your design.

Sure your fit in well here. Boats are they full size or models.

Take care

No pictures. I've been copying Kerry's designs with a few of my own mods due to material on hand or what not, but for the most part his basic design on the adjuster. Am "borrowing" his profiles for lower anvils. Like I said before, I love this sight for tool tech.

Full sized boats for duck hunting. Layout boats to be specific. Haven't started yet, but I'm working on some different designs right now.

Later,
Kev
