Anyone looking for help in a hot rod/chassis shop/race car shop near Charlotte/Union County NC ? I worked in a restoration/body shop for a while before going into law enforcement.I retired last year .Im looking for something part time right now.I have always wanted to get back into it.Always wanted to do real metal work....English wheel, planishing hammer etc.......
If so PM me.
Thanks
Louie

Lots of metal shops down Charlotte way, though they'd be more likely to hire a local good ole boy than a Long Island goomba! There is one OUTSTANDING metal guy near Kannapolis though I'm not allowed to mention his name and he keeps it all in the family.

I'd take a short drive up towards Mooresville and Cornelius and knock on some NASCAR shop doors. Visit Stock Car Steel and see if they can point you in the right direction. Try to ditch the accent, though, or else you can fuggedaboudit!

LOL !
Thanks for the input ! Been there done that !
Actually handed out a few resumes ,I'm sure they went in the round file.
I actually have a Brooklyn accent so I get lots of
Y'all ain't from around here are ya ? Yea ! Fugettaboudtit !
From what I was told from a couple of pit crew guys after the economy tanked there are only about 35 teams compared to 50. Lots of empty x-race shops in Mooresveille.I go there all the time.We use the NASCAR parts on our drag race cars.Im a big drag racer.
I was in a shop in Mooresville last year the guy worked for Troy Trepenier for a while.Pretty much solo operation. He did mostly restorods, touring cars.Incredible welder/fabricator.I offered to volunteer / sweep the floor anything, but nothing came of it.Im gonna be going out with a few more resumes next week.
My wife is a special ed teacher ,that coupled with my pension we do pretty good.I just want to work on HOT RODS or Race Cars.
For now I don't mind being Mr.Mom

Lou, Check out Roush-Fenway. They took bunch of guys from Michigan when they moved the engine shop south. Roush has always looked for talent and dedication. Where you come from is less an issue.
