Default Do it yourselfer from Ohio.

Hello folks,

My name is Jerry and I am from Ohio. I am 47 yo and have been kicking around the garage since I was a kid. I have built several offroad Jeeps and street drivers, too. I always prefer to build it rather than buy it. Currently I am building a 1981 Jeep Wagoneer with a Chevy 5.3 in my 2-car garage. I am also slowly converting my family's old tobacco barn into my dream shop.

My grandfather and father were both do it yourself, old-school mechanics. They fixed everything and never threw anything away. As a result I have inherited 100+ years of tool collections. I know what a lot of them are for but several are completely foreign to me. Things like forge tools, cobbler tools, lead auto body tools, home made tools and lots of farm/tractor tools. Grandpa had an auto shop in the 40s and Dad was an over the road trucker and hobby stock car racer. Neither ever paid another man to fix anything. I learned a lot from those two but sadly lost them before I could learn all they knew.

I am looking forward to learning what I can from this group. I hope to be able to throw a good idea in here and there myself. I found this site after drooling over a thread on the Full Size Jeep forum by your member MP&C.
