John on pics N 2 ..that is where you went wrong you where supposed to block from the back of the panel not downwards...I also mention to you that if you could not get the height up enough by stretching ...then you would put a cut on the bottom fold, and bring the surface level with the folded top edge that would have given you the triangle shape that you need, and enough material to make the corner , AND THEN....block it down (stretch) on the bottom curve and shape it
If you find this difficult to understand bring the panel over and I will explain that to you
Peter
PS......
For some reason you shrunk the surface where you needed to stretch it?? Also I mention that.... you could do this with no cutting BUT!! it's a lot easier and a lot less work by putting a cut on the bottom fold.. Remember when we talk about your wooden former .and doing the blocking from the back of the panel... well...it would create just that...Remember the only way to learn is to make a mess ..then try again and again till you get it..from there then.... it's going to be easier

You know, you might have the professor there, but there is an easier way to do it.
You just need to work it out.

PS: thanks for sending my mat, it arrived after we went camping..

John
Please do not take this the wrong way No criticism on your comment meant! Or offence taken but if you look for the easier way all the time you never going to learn, so... start by doing things the real hard way, seriously screw some metal to the point that you chuck it away, then try again. and again. The idea is to UNDERSTAND metal..... once that is achieved, with a bit of practice you will make almost anything. Some time this means hard work.. but... it needs to be done!
Peter

Peter,
There is only one thing that has taken me the wrong way, The Navman

Seen Kiwi John has taken on a new line of FB/EK production models , I think he would need the easier way.

By the way! I agree with you whole heartedly.

Here are some more photos on the day.

Peter welding up a piece Dave had made. He said he could make it in one piece in 10 minutes, so he was put up to the challenge!

Invention is a combination of brains and materials.
The more brains you use, the less materials you need.

Hey Peter, I see one of them is a bright blue - you are even doing custom colors now?
