Sunken windows for a chop....
Going to be getting a new project to work on pretty soon, and it will have something I've never done before... a sunken rear window for a chop.
The vehicle is a 61 Chrysler product so it has fins and a factory hardtop. The guy I will be doing this for is already researching some of the stuff for the 4 inch chop. I just need any hints, tips, tricks, and/or pics from anyone that has done something like this.

Mike, not sure what you’re asking. Do you want to chop the top without cutting down the glass.

Basically you weld temporary bracing into the rear window opening and then cut it out and reposition lower in the car or lean it further forward. Big concerns are being able to remove the glass for replacement and you may need a tray with a drain below a sunken window to catch rain / wash water. It’s kinda a shame, in the old days you’d chop a car & cut glass to fit, now with tempered glass you have to chop the car around the glass which many times limits you stylistically. Here is a video of Winfield sinking the rear window on a Ford Starliner chop, his part starts around 7:10 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-x-PxVjqB4
Hope this helps. ~ John Buchtenkirch
