Another practice piece
As I said before, I like to just play with a bit of tin, like some folk do drawing, carpentry etc, this is another piece I made just so I learn more about metalshaping, welding & metal finishing, a Porsche 911 wing, particular challenge was the wheel flare & the little reverse on inside that tips up at scuttle end & bends downwards towards the headlamp end.
The first piece I made was a big challenge, caused me a lot of head ache as it's difficult to check the fit against the panel, I should have made it in 2 really, with a join at the top

The front outside was ok, quite a challenge to wheel the flare upside down
This shows the delicate reverse on the inside, these again have to accurately wheel upside down while pulling upwards The area bellow the headlamp needed a lot of stretching, especially on the right side to flow around into the reverse, the original panel was used as a hammer form, the aluminium needed a lot of annealing too

Martin
I must congratulate you on the work carried out on those guards simply.... GOOD WORK! If I might say so in order to make the wheel arch and the return a bit quicker and better, .. use the method... (if you like) that I have used on dvd when making the Monaro wheel arch. Simply use a small blocking hammer and block the edge of the return ...been the top line on your wheel arch then with a rod flipper form the return down on a sand bag keep stretching the lower section of the wheel arch to stop the panel getting too round, once that is done, block again the lower line on your wheel arch till the lower lip of the guard starts to go over keep your eye out for the over all shape and stretch that lower lip while it's going around .With a square dolly or bar of the same width between the two lines finish off the wheel arch Peter
