Default Sun-n-Fun Flyin - Metalshapers Workshop

The Sun-n-Fun Flyin is coming up in a bit over a month. March 29- April 3. Anyone interested in joining us as an instructor will be welcome. Send me a PM if you are interested. No experience required. A pass will be provided and a free camping permit if needed. Lunch is provided to volunteers. Some of us will be there Sunday the 27th. Setup day is Monday and the Fly-Mart opens to volunteers only Monday at 6:00 pm. I have bought some interesting tools through the years.
Laughter is the spoken language in the Metalshapers Workshop. We do have a good time. That is what keeps me coming back.
I have not received the registration form yet but will email that out as soon as I receive it.

I guess that mentioning the location would be a good idea. Lakeland Florida. Lakeland Linder Airport.

I will be in St. Augustine the weekend prior to that. Have an interest in attending if you post more registration info.

Thanks for posting.

Default Sun-n-Fun 2011

The registration form will be sent to you in a e-mail. You will fill out that form and email it back to Monda Thompson. She is the workshops registrar. She will put you on the volunteers list and issue you a wristband when you sign in.
This is not a method of getting a free pass to see the event. That only happens once. We rarely experience that behaviour. In fact I haven't seen that in years. We have too much fun in the workshop. We generally have enough volunteers to allow us time off to wander around and see the aircraft and visit the vendor areas. There is no cost to be a workshop volunteer. Lunch is provided at no cost to volunteers. On friday or saturday there will be a "workshop voluteers" banquet. Also free. There are other workshops involving other aspects of aviation. Engines, sheet metal(riveting etc),fabrics, composites, avionics, woodworking, weldi ng etc. There are 11 or more workshops going on at the event in the same general workshop area.
George Biang is included in our Metalshapers workshop. He will be set up doing aluminum welding hands on demonstrations with a variety of O/A torches.
So the registration form is just for you to let us know who is coming. I will need for you to PM me your email address so that I can forward the registration form when get it. Sometimes Monda is late sending those out. Not to worry. Everyone gets in that wants to volunteer.
The reason that it is called the "Metalshapers" workshop is that it had it's roots from the original Metalshapers.org forum. Many of us on this forum participated with that group. Our workshop has never been aviation only. Most of us were car guys with a mix of aircraft guys.

I wish I could make it this year Carey. SunNFun is a great event. I'm not a plane guy but it's hard not to be excited by all the neat machines and radial engines!

It's a great event and good time! You get lots of time off if you volunteer and there are many free workshops available in subjects like gas welding, riveting, carving propellers, ect. And the best prices of the season are usually to be had at the Lincoln and Miller trucks.

I look forward to seeing all of you again this year. Our LZ will be set up almost directly across the main walkway from you this year. That is if you are where you were last year.
