Joey, will you be fabricating the chassis yourself to match the original or purchasing prefabbed components ? I very interested in this, as I have built much of mine. Viewing what other knowledgeable folks do is a help to us!

Mike,

I'm going to fabricate everything for the chassis. I have ordered DOM tubing which should be in next week and working on drawing to have cut on water jet. I'm down to the rear torsion bars mount in center of frame to figure out.

Thanks
Joey Allen.

Default Rear torsion bar.

Still looking for info on rear torsion bars mount in center of frame.
A friend send me a photo he found on the net of a rear torsion bar made for a c-type. From the looks of the torsion bar, it is 1sq turn to 3/4 dia.

I realised the other day that a rear suspension tube on a VW beetle actually has the same dimensions as the C-type...

Default Ctype Buck

Joey, this is an old post so not sure how your project is progressing. If you are not too far down the body building path I did a 3D scan of my Proteus Ctype. Since the car has an aluminum center section it will only need an alloy nose and tail so they can be build on a buck while keeping the car functional.

Let me know if you need any info.

Is that 3D scan something you would be able to share? If so, please send an email and we can sort out the details.
