Default Newbie from North Pole, AK.

I'm Donald currently living in North Pole AK. I have been in the Army for 18 years as a truck driver, currently working as a S-3 Operation Sergeant. I only have two and one more deployment left until I have to figure out what I really want to do when I grow up. I like working on cars and trucks, I just want to have something a little different then everyone else. I also like trying new things, and I don't mind a challenge. I am looking to learn metal shaping to increase my knowledge and ability working on custom cars. That would be a dream career for me, but I think I need something a little more realistic, not everyone can do the Foose, or Boyd Codington thing, however I still would like to do it as a hobby. I am interested in making allot of my own tools, you can double to triple the price of thing just because of the shipping. For some reason people (including the USPS) think Alaska is a different country and charge us a fortune for shipping. Anyways this looks like a great site with allot of helpful people. I will be viewing allot in the up coming Months to get my feet wet, and I look forward to hearing from the more experienced.

Welcome Donald, Thanks for serving! We have several members up in Alaska but, as you know, it's a BIG place and they probably aren't next door...

What does 'two and one more deployment' mean in civilian speak? Where are you planning on settling down?

Default two and one

Sorry, I have been around the military too long. I have two more years until my retirement, and in those two years I will be deploying again for the last time. I plan on staying up here in North Pole at-least until my boys graduate high school, and yes I could go and ask santa for it, but sometimes you just got to do things for your self. The santa clause house is about two miles from my house.

Donald, welcome and thanks for helping keep us free. Metal shaping is fun and a great hobby. Building your own tools and equipment is very rewarding and will save you some cash. Thanks for joining us.
