Hello all, My name is Lin Zoller and I reside in Gainesville Georgia which is 50mi NE of Atlanta on Lake Lanier,
I am in the process of restoring a Euro spec 1968 DeTomaso Mangusta which I have owned since 1996. The car was purchased as "restored" but had become a little tired and I decided to do a full restoration to as near 100 pts as possible. In the process of stripping the undercoating I discovered the previous "restoration" was in fact sloppy rust repair covered by, at times, a thick Bondo layers along with pigeon poop welds. Rusty panels were left in place and just scabbed over The body will require a significant amount of sheet metal work in order to get it back to where it should be. I am joining this site with the intent to learn from others far more experienced in metal shaping than I and to get advice and guidance regarding the various tasks needed to complete this job. I have good mechanical skills and what I think is the necessary equipment ( dollys, hammers, shot bag, shrinking stump, pneumatic planishing hammer and a high quality English wheel and dies). I am however on the front end of the learning curve regarding metal shaping.
