Also Ackerman on race cars is different than used on street cars. While intersecting at the center of the rear wheels gives you true ackerman. On a race car the tires are sliding(slip angle) and the optimum slip angle for a given tire is based on the vertical load with the outside tire having a higher load than the inside tire.

Thanks Guys. Project has been on hold last six weeks recovering from surgery, but gave me a good opportunity to read/ plan more on the ackerman angles. Back at it this weekend. Been dreading getting the lower back rail to define the rear fender line and rear of the body in and getting the two sides to match (tons of indexing). All told, from the front of one wheel arch to the other was four pieces. It's tacked to temporary cross bars until further panel development to confirm flow. Got it pretty close and an assist from Ben Starr yesterday to dial it in. Managed to get a couple more cross rails in too. Threw three of the roof panels on quick for a photo op as I was leaving the shop and give me a rough sense of proportion. Looking forward to getting back to shaping!!!

Looking good Ira. How are you going to attach the skins to the tubing?

Thanks Bill, was about to post really looking forward to following yours on your thread. Looks like a great project. As a 17 yo i did a frame off rebuild of a then only six year old badly rusted out TR6, with a badly smoking engine, in need of all new suspension bushings too. I can only imagine what it took to get a nearly 50 yo frame back in shape. Working(!!!) plan is to hammer over the bottom bars and rivet, weld a liberal number of aluminum tabs to the panels to bolt to flanges coming off the tube.

Did Wray ever find and give you that disc of a couple hundred Type 57 and Atlantic photos I sent you over a year ago? If not, e-mail me your address and I'll send you another one: longyard@ix.netcom.com

Bill, I owe you an email!!
Really hard to break away from Summer weekends at the beach with the family around, but managed to squeeze in a couple of days this weekend. Got some more definition into the trunk and with some good help from whiz kid Sam Stein really started attacking the driver side door opening.

Good to see you're still making progress. This thing is going to be amazing when you're done.
