Unfortunately I've somehow deleted most of the build pictures.
Basically, the process was: measure the original lid and scale down by 50%. I then cut the blank and marked the "W" swage detail. Then, using an art die set on my bead roller, I indented the W Patern onto the panel. This left a permanent marking for future reference. I then stump shrunk over the lower section of the panel and then smoothed out the walnuts on the English Wheel. Once the shape was correct, I then blocked in the "W" detail with various hammers and an air planisher. This detail was the most time consuming part of the job.
Once happy with the shape and detail, I then tipped the edges of the panel to add rigidity. A fair amount of polishing ensued.
I then made a stand from a stainless steel billet and tube. On to the next part - the license plate light. Again, this was patterned and scaled from the original down by 50%. I made this in two halves and welded it together.
