Default Scratch building Bugatti 57SC Atlantic with BMW S65

Backstory: So I joined this forum a couple of months back as I was about to finish a 750 HP BMW S65 supercharged project in a highly modified FFR tubular chassis and fiberglass ’33 Ford Roadster body as I was starting to have regrets at going fiberslass as I was blasting towards the end. Project had BMW 5-link IRS and FFR cantilevered IFS. As no-one builds anything for the BMW was a virtual scratch build with home milled fuel rails, brackets, mounts, tabs, etc. Cosworth Pectel SQ6M and ICD Digital Dash provided the base for the engine management. Here's a link to a build page I have up: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=947904

Disaster then struck, total loss of tools, shop and the project.

So I have a bit of time before a new shop is rebuilt and began speaking with Wray Schelin about taking his class. Long story short is Wray graciously offered me a bay at his shop and advice at his shop while I don’t have one to start on an all aluminum body for the new project. As a total newbie to shaping sheet metal, I could not pass up the opportunity. I Took Wray's early January four day (9 am to past 1 am every day!!!!!) coach building class and then took a ten day vacation to really get a jump on the buck. Plan is to build a hot rodded Bugatti 57SC Atlantic on an improved by what I learned the first time version of the tubular race frame chassis I just built, powered by the supercharged BMW S65 (750 HP). I brought the burnt wreckage of my frame to Wray’s to use as a model.

I found a set of plans on the net which I had blown up to scale on vinyl. Got a good chunk of the buck built for the driver’s side, will use Wray’s flexible shape pattern method to replicate for the passenger side. Door gaps are cutout and got the first panel for the roof mostly shaped although needs some work at front and to be trimmed and flanged. The plan is to build the body, then the chassis, then come back and dial in fenders. As a hot rod, am taking a few liberties: widened the body by 4” for modern human beings, channeling the body, shortening the wheelbase from 117 to 112 inches for handling and will widen the fenders to accommodate 330x13x19 rears and 235x8x18 front and will have a full hot rod rake and 4'" ground clearance in the front and 6" in the back. Looking forward to lots of weekends at Wray’s in the coming months. Lot's to learn so bear with me!!!!
