I have always referred to it as the rear cowl. That was the accepted terminology when I was writing insurance estimates. At least no one said otherwise. In the UK it might be called the rear scuttle.

I would use 4043 wire on the 6061. I use 1100 on 3003 but 4043 will work also. Harder grainier weld but will work on both alloys. I do not suggest the 5356 wire.
