a thin skim of bondo is what i have to do also. most do to get great slick finish for great paint job. thats what I have seen anyway.

I have done a lot of gas welding pretty good results. But not always as good as I wanted. I think with practice your tips will correct most of my errors.

Nothing will save you from this. But using a heavy duty cup wire brush is better than a grinder. The kind I am talking about looks like twisted wire.:D

Plan on making it twice. forming your flanges will not affect the crown as much as you think. On something like this, I have not made before, I know the first one will not be good enough to put on...

Sid, if you have access to the back side ,try that. I have had great sucess by using the shrinking disc on both sides when i had the chance. the metal sure dont know the difference.:)

Make friends at body shops, I get almost all of my metal from the parts they take off and replace. Most times I can find a section of a panel close to where I want to go with my parts. saves a lot...
