Also take a small stainless brush and scrub the base metal real good, oxidation on the surface will sometimes stop the fill rod from being accepted to the base metal.

Not really sure on the hours, I used a rubber sanding block no files, the hard part was getting the small end shaped evenly.

The cap I was talking about was from a large gas cylinder that screws...

I have a Ron Fornier book that I looked at for years that shows him making a blister, I thought there is no way in hell you could take that...

A lot of planishing,I started with 150 grit paper and worked my way up to 600, then buffed it with jewelers rouge.
