To have a flexible shape pattern you've first got to have a three-dimensional part, even if it is only made of Bondo. However, IF you do have an FSP it is much easier to shape the metal to fit...

A FSP is a 3-D buck where, when it puffs up, shows you need stretching. When it is too tight, or won't fit, on your metal blank, shows you need shrinking. You can approximate this with simple paper...
