I use the full-flat anvils/lower rolls for erasing mischief in damage. I also use flat dies in my bead rollers for erasing mischief. Sometimes cold. Sometimes hot, but I like having an eraser handy....

I started with one hammer, one dolly, a file, a pair of snips, a straightedge and a tape measure.
Then I learned how to smooth with a slapper rather than a hammer - and things went faster....

I do not recommend the Phillips' glued sandwich filter plate that he sells for aluminum gas welding - no published safety specs, and it is just an S2 didymium glued to a standard shade 3 glass plate....
