A cheaper alternative might be to have the trim digitally printed on vinyl & contour cut. Easily replaced if it gets old or is damaged.

For glue I grind the mating surfaces with at least 80 grit discs & make sure they are clean, clean clean. No primer you want the glue to grab a hold of the bare rough surfaces.

If I'm under the car I try to put the pedal under the backside of my knee. I've even used my elbow in some cases, just depends how I'm positioned. Just a matter of what you get used to.
