Hollow planishing
Hi guys,
when you want to finish a high or low crown (aluminum) sheet one can planish it with a slapper and dolly to smoothen it and sand it. But with what tools can hollow planishing be done? Cheers Richard. |
Hi Richard,
Are you talking about bowl shape and how to polish it? |

Hi Martin,
Something like that. It's for the top of a tank. Attachment 44490 Attachment 44491 Attachment 44492 The middle of the bowl is flat wit a radius on the sides. Cheers Richard. |
I don't know if anyone else does it this way but I made some curved dollies to work areas like that. You can't buy them though. Also use a small hand held beater bag.

Marcus,
Is the other item in the picture a type of height checker? Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, everyone! |

Cheers Richard. ///////////////////////////// Hi Richard, When I make parts that have shapes like this, I try to lay out the sections so that I can flip this shape over and planish it in reverse - using smooth tools because it is also difficult to metal finish - and also to sand the primer nicely...! For me, I have to plan this hollow shape out in advance, so I don't make an exhausting trip through a swamp for myself. :p :o  Very Happy Christmas, :):):) |
