Saved me hunderds $$$ thru the years.

Recently I was doing some exhaust & suspension work on my 23 year old Audi. Even though I now wear glasses I managed to get a small boulder (well, it felt like it) in my eye. I immediately held the skin above and below my eye to keep it from closing and cutting my eye. Ran for my eye magnet and wrapped it with 1 layer of wet paper towel, rolled it across my eye and presto, the pain & little boulder were gone.
I’m not claiming to be an eye doctor but you can buy one of these eye magnets off eBay for $10 or less........... you may find it to be a real money & time saver :). ~ John Buchtenkirch Attachment 45687 |
Is that what it's called, "eye magnet"? Or is it called something else? I couldn't find it on Ebay.
I managed to get a 3mm long sliver in my eye once. Strange thing was I felt it go in blinked once and didn't feel it again so I thought it was out. Had safety glasses on as well. Went 2 days before I realized I had something embedded in my eye. Cost me 3 weeks of pain and about a $1000. Now I only wear a full face shield. EDIT: I found one. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Eye-Magnet-...AAAOxyQfJTfl5d |
Just bought one. Thanks John and Chris!

Top tip John, I like the wet paper towel idea as well. :)
I find it very useful to wash the eye immediately with running water whenever I feel anything go into it; if I wait until later – even 5 minutes – it always sticks and needs a visit to the quack. For those caught short without a magnet, try a wet cotton-bud dragged across the wet eye, it often snags surface objects in the fibres, Cheers Charlie |
If I can't get it out myself, I find an eye doctor. I WILL NOT go to an E. R. they just don't have the tools or the experience.

I bought two from that link, thanks . I bet the sellers had a run on them.
