How is the "stick" used to trap the tuck?

Well, instead of clobbering the tucks directly with the hammer, you place the stick on the metal so that the open side faces the edge of the metal and use the hammer to whack the stick.

So, kind of the way the top half of a thumbnail die works as you pull the piece out of the machine?

Great thread, thanks for all the input, thought I would ask a relavent question here rather than in my own thread. Working on rear fenders for my 34 pickup and need to do some serious shrinking and only have hand tools.

This is what I want to achieve

I've just purchased these pry bars and should like advice on what length the useable forks should be, I'm thinking ahead for the skirted face of the fender

These come in 5/16, 3/8, 1/2, & 5/8"
