Fender line help
 

Hi Group,

I have a newbie question on how to get the line back in this fender (first pic) that was done by someone else years ago. They even leaded in the work so they must have been knowledgeable as to what to do.

The car in question is a 1957 Morris Minor. Iv'e worked on the flat part a bit and the curve to the side but I'm not sure how to reestablish the line from the top of the fender to the bottom edge that passes by the headlight bucket mount.
Pic #2 is the other fender that is untouched and shows what I'm trying to accomplish.

Basic hand tools, a couple of welders, OA set, mill, lathe, and I can make a dolly or form to work with if I can get help as to what I need.

all you need is a hammer and dolly nothing extravagant.

best bet is make a template so you can draw the line on the outside and the inside, that way if you work from inside using the off dolly method you know where to hit. and using the line on the outside you can neaten up and sharpen it up using on dolly and off dolly method. on dolly you will get some stretch, and off dolly you will move the line.

Yep I agree, hammer and dolly but start by running a body file down the line. It will help you see where you need to start.

Just before you that, melt all the previous lead work out, so you start with a clean slate.

Great suggestions. I will do as you suggest.

I do have a question on the dolly to use, would you use a straight edge of steel, low crown, high crown, or the end of a spoon, these are the ideas I have right now, but maybe there is a different type of dolly for this. I assume the edge of the dolly is what I'm working off of to get the edge desired.

PS. The flat bumpy area of the headlamp marker light is double sheet steel do I work it any different?
