Strange bending pliers ?
 

Any idea, that are these for sheetmetal work??..According the seller, they are some sort of bending pliers..?

Somehow I cant figure, how they would work on sheet..

Janne, I have seen upholsterers use tools like that for stretching-holding their material when stapling. just a guess--

Looks like they are for forming a radius on an edge. Work slowly along the edge of a sheet - a bit like crimping pliers but without the crimp. Handy things by the look of them.

Look almost dead on to thease.

I would guess an upholstery stretching set of pliers.

Yep, I think they are for the jobs, you guys described..not much use for me though ..

I have seen them in the shoe-leather -saddle maker shops,

They are used by horseshoers to clinch the horseshoe nails in the hoof after reshoeing the horse. The nail is driven up through the shoe into the hoof and out the side of the hoof about an inch above the shoe. The pointed end of the nail that protrudes from the side of the hoof is then grabbed with the claw end of the hammer and twisted until it breaks off. Finally that clinching tool is used to tighten the nail by resting the straight end against the bottom of the horseshoe and the curved end against the protruding nail and squeezing the pliers which pulls the nail downward and inward to clinch.

Dave i didn't realise farriers clinched the nail in the shoe, makes sense though probably fall off before leaving the stables if they didn't. i've only ever seen them use blacksmith like tongs whilst adjusting the shoe.

Just a thought what about surgeons vasectomy pliers!! old medical tools are very similar to those used in construction.
