Quick disconnect fix

Have a cutoff wheel device that was wimping out. Have a new 3/8" hose and a new quick disconnect.
Turned out the mushroom looking valve piece in the quick coupling has a design problem. Ok this was a cheep HF item. But I fixed it I took the connector apart and retrieved the "valve piece". This one had a narrow slot in the little end. That is the end that contacts the male piece. The fix is to cut a slot using a narrow cut off wheel down the existing slot making it wider and deeper. Rotate 90 degrees and cut another slot the same as the first. Reassemble the coupling and try it out. May have to debur a little
Turned my weak cutoff into an all star.

hmmmm, sounds like "port the valve" performance mod. Helpful also on weed burners (overdrill the jet), blowguns (re-drill orifice), and others that have the "need to breathe." ;)
Thanks, Mike ... :)

At a product knowledge meeting once I was shown a cut-a-way of a Tru-Flate "T" style coupler. The coupler was designed to pass more air than the other types of couplers. I don't remember the details of the internals, but switched all my couplers to 3/8" Tru-Flate (Plews) "T" style couplers. No air starvation here :)

I use this style (V) on my blast cabinet, Flows almost twice the M style and will also accept the M style for other tools. Must be used with the V male for when you want the increased airflow. All my couplings have been changed to milton as I was tired of many others(imports) leaking when hooked up and not in use.
