New from South Carolina
Just wanted to say Hello. As my name might suggest I am building a Ferrari 275 spyder replica. I am not far enough along with the project to start on the body but I signed up here so I could do some more research what it might take to make it out of aluminum vs. fiberglass. It is something I might tackle. If you are on GRM you can read about my project here

Hi Spencer welcome to the forum
you have a nice project there!!:D Peter |
Hi Peter,
Thanks for the warm welcome! |
Welcome to the forum, Spencer. Very cool to see such a thing being done here in SC. That project be worthy of a visit to see what you're doing, if you're in the habit of having visitors.
I like the v12 touch- are you thinking of making some custom Ferrari-badged valve covers to keep things copacetic......? |
What an awesome project. I'll be excited to see it progress. I'm in Charleston and love to see things like these projects happening.

Thanks fellas. I'm happy to have visitors... always good to have an extra eye on these kinds of projects. I'm still a good bit away from starting the body buck though.
|
Very cool project. Welcome to the forum.

As a fellow South Carolinian, I am most appreciative of your project. You are welcome to come to Rock Hill and take a 'test run' on one of Peter Tommasini's wheeling machines if you have an interest. I have four English wheels here at the moment and you can compare them. I also have a number of wooden egg crate bucks that you can take a look at to give you an idea of what you might and might not want to do with the body buck.

That would be really awesome! I'd love to see how this all works first hand. I've done a little bit of planning as far as the buck goes but seeing some examples might present a new approach to building that I hadn't thought of. I am just up the road in Indian Land/Fort Mill. |
Hi Spencer,
Welcome to the forum. You have an interesting project ahead of you. Very attractive body style. You work is clean and tidy with a nice working environ. I think if you keep the chassis light and the engine heavy you will get the same handling that the aluminum-bodied NART spyders had, since the steel-bodied coupes tended to be stiffer in the corners. |
