52 Chevy tail pan

Spent today hosting a Pullmax Workshop for some of the guys from the VA HAMB. OJ Higgins recently took delivery of a gargantuan Trumpf universal machine (a Pullmax on Steroids) and wanted a down and dirty on how these machines could be put to use. So OJ and a few other VA guys stopped by today and for a sample to use, ClutchDumpinDan brought by a tail pan from his 52 Chevy that was in dire need of rust repair.. We found a piece of 18 gauge cold rolled steel large enough to do the trick, so Dan cut it in half just in case we needed to do this twice...

Very interesting demo, thanks. What's the material for those dies?

There's a Trumpf on eBay at the moment http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/192113542061 and I'm kinda glad it's over 500km away, to stop me buying something i have no space for and no chance of time to use anytime soon :)

Looks like Tufnol to me (phenolic cotton laminate).

Looks expensive to me but, if it has a good amount of tooling, it may be worth the asking price. I paid way less than that for my CN900 a few years back.

Outstanding photo essay Robert. I wish more of our members took the time to document their work like this. There were many key nuggets of wisdom in your post. Thanks!

Man alive- and I'm trying to figure out where I could fit a bead roller in my shop.... Empty space, much less acreage like that monster requires, is a rare thing around here.

Still, cool thread. Thanks for the pics.

If you're looking to come down for something like this, I think we're about an 8 hour drive away. Would be quite a drive just for a Sunday in the shop.....unless you're hiding out somewhere closer?
