Some more concept work from one of the guys at the jalopy journal
I really like this but we are going to have to do some planning on how it would be possible to fit an engine with a nose this narrow and how the transition between the body panels will look.
Wold be nice to pull off a nose similar to this
Should be able to start drawing the chassis soon

I am thinking of a one piece body that tilts like a funny car for service work.

Good for you on making Shop class cool again!

thinking about having a removable hood top that will allow us to access the engine
will definitely have to think how to access/remove an engine/trans
may look into making all that drop out the bottom

we had a very cool week
our bus was on the front page of our local paper and a local news crew interviewed a couple of our students along with our automotive instructor and myself.
our bus is being displayed at the Birmingham World of Wheels

hope to post caddy pictures soon, we have been doing some chassis design.
we finally figured out how we are going to transition the QTR and finder together

also plan to post some pics of metal fab work by one of my students on a 60s Sunbeam we are currently working on

I know I haven't posted progress pics but the past week has been amazing.
We shown our bus and other projects at the Bham World of Wheels.
Absolutely blown away at the response.
We had 2 of our electric cars (assembled and raced by students) and some examples of our paint work along with the short bus.
Several business and shops were amazed at the work completed by our students.
I made a lot of contacts with people asking for employees, one of my students even had an on the spot job interview. He was told to contact the owner upon graduation.
A large truck dealership asked us to bring the bus to their upcoming open house.
A shop offered to donate several pieces on nice equipment, one is a pro spot welder.
Garage Bound LLC/Miller Welding chose our entries as the winner of their show pick.
Our automotive and my collision class had 2 news reports on local TV and a front page article in our local paper last week.
These articles and videos have been shared with our state board of ed, local superintendent/school board, state congressman and representative, local business council along with numerous principals of other schools.
Hopefully this will help promote the greatness that still exists in our young people and help promote the positives of tech ed.

Anthony
Congratulations

Great to see you got some well deserved recognition!!!

The students are to be congratulated on their projects also!!!

Nice to see your community and businesses are supportive of you program!!!!

Keep up the good work. Not easy to get students enthusiastic about projects that are not their own!

Thanks, sorry for not posting progress pics of the caddy
I will get back to that soon
We are just a little excited about our recent good fortune
I am lucky to have a fellow shop teacher that is as crazy as myself
The electric race cars were his idea and the bus was mine
We do not have the best faculties at our school
We just decided to stop focusing on the bad and decided to do the best with what we have.
Our motto has been .....when in doubt put the student first
