Mould for CFRP or GFRP useful?

Hello everyone,

i have a mould to produce Carbon or Fibreglass Boot Lids for the Classic Minis. To be precise, the Italian build Innocenti.

But this is a negative mould and wanted to know, if this is for any use or if i should take a positive mould out of it.

Thank You for Your input.

what do you want to produce with it?

if you have the inner frame mould and outer skin mould then yes you could produce a finished part by bonding the 2 parts together, i'll be surprised if 'z cars' have not already done or have that part available.

do you want to use the moulds to produce these in steel or aluminium?

Thanks for Your Answer and Questions!

I want to build an aluminium boot lid for it, as the original steel one is quite heavy and expensive today.

Alternativley I may lay up one in fibreglass, but as I studied Composites and being an educated Composites Technichan, I would like to learn more metalshaping.

Thanks and greets

I think it would be useful as you could pull a buck from it and also a flexible shape pattern.

Thanks for the suggestion.

So i will do it in the near future.

you could even lay up a skin, fix it to a stand like an upturned table, cut holes in it with a hole saw so you can see where the aluminium skin fits to the GRP skin.
