Modeling clay at Oblong

I will be attending Metal met again this year and will bring automotive modeling clay with me. Please let me know if you would like to purchase some, $2 per pound. The clay is made in cylinders. It is quite dense, so it's difficult to explain weight versus size. I used 100lbs to model the side of a whole car. Fenders, facias or hood scoops would use a fraction of that amount.

Mike could you take a guess at what a 4 in or 6 in square would weigh?

Also do you have any idea of the affects of freezing on the clay. Say you model up something and it has to stay in an unheated area of the shop. My shop can get well below zero.

Mike- I would expect you used a hot pot or some method to warm/heat the clay to help make it more pliable to apply? Do you know details about the specific manufacturer, if it's sulfur free or not, ?? How thick did you apply it over your buck, <1/4" ?

I ended up with some via Will & looking forward to working with it. More would be more fun. Gotta grow more fun money first...

I have several manufacturers clay. It's all for automotive type modeling. Every manufacturers are extruded cylinders. 3x8"=3lbs., 2.5"x11.5" =2lbs.
2lbs would make a very large ashtray 12" diameter.
I have about an average of 1/2 thickness for my car. I used it over top a foam base, which provided a gross shape. I used about 100lbs. to do 1 side of the car. Scrapings can be reused if it's clean. I put down cardboard to catch scrapings. I will do demonstration and explain at Metal meet.
Clint I'll look to see if I still have any sulfur free.

That will be interesting to see Mike!

I have approximately 400lbs of automotive type modeling clay, none is sulfur free. Sorry Clint! This clay costs roughly $6-$7 when purchased in quantities more than 50lbs. I'm selling it for $2lb. I won't ship clay! If you want some you'll have to get it from me at meets that I attend.
