Finally finished the Wide MGB
10 Attachment(s)
I got a PM from Kerry asking me to post an update on the widened MGB project. I haven't posted in quite a while so I'm not sure where I left off so here is the finished product. I attached a list of all the modifications I have made to the car in addition to some photographs

Stunning!

Wow, that came out great in the end. I remember seeing this ages ago but had totally forgotten about it.

Jim, that came out amazing! One of the few projects of that magnitude that I've seen completed. Is it what you hoped it would be? Probably most important question is what would you have done different?
For those who don't remember Jim's project, here are a couple links to earlier threads that show some in process photos and discussion. http://allmetalshaping.com/showthread.php?t=1430 http://allmetalshaping.com/showthread.php?t=1850 |
Jim - thanks for sharing that. Your project came out great! I'm always impressed with folks that can stick with a project like this and see it to completion. And it looks superb - nicely finished, great stance. That must be a great feeling.

That MG turned out very nice. That is what the factory should have built! The fact that it got finished, should be very inspirational to those of us that are in the middle of a long time project. The proportions and flow of the body look good, all your long hours are paying dividends. Thanks for sharing along the way! Steve |
Thanks guys. I retired 5 years ago and I don't see how I could have finished it if I was still working. I'm actually amazed that I was able to get as much done as I did while I was working. It was a learning experience and as such it didn't move along very quickly. It also didn't help that I did everything myself except upholstering the seats and the carpet and that I'm not the fastest worker in the world. If you want to see the entire process, here are links to the build log. I had to do it in separate parts due to limitations of the website.

Jim, You car is perfect in every way, a perfect example of less is more. The attention to detail is unbelievable. It looks like a factory prototype that might be built tomorrow. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Very impressive build, Jim. I'm a lifelong TR3B fan (now owning the car I grew up in) and have seen far too many hacked up, poorly done Triumph/MG V8 "poor man's cobra" hacks with wheel flares and a hood scoop.... Yours looks really great. Nice to see one done properly for a change. Very cool.
I bet it's a blast to drive. The wider track and longer wheelbase must help a lot. Do you have a approx or measured final weight? |
